Commercial Tire Replacement

Commercial Tire Replacement & Roadside Tire Service

Roadside and yard tyre replacement, wheel-end inspection and torque checks for trucks, trailers and equipment — no hook required.

About this service

The single most common reason a truck stops moving is a tyre. A blowout on the interstate at speed, a run-flat destroyed by a slow leak, a tyre shredded by a wheel-end fault — and suddenly a productive truck is a hazard on the shoulder and a load that will not arrive.

Commercial tyre replacement comes to the vehicle. Our service trucks carry the tools and tooling for heavy truck and trailer tyres, so a steerside blowout on the highway or a set of drive tyres in your yard is dealt with on the spot instead of needing a hook and a yard visit.

What commercial tire replacement involves

Roadside tyre service

Changing steer, drive and trailer tyres at the roadside, in a truck stop, in a yard or at a dock, with the wheel and hub checked while the wheel is off rather than simply hanging a new tyre on and driving away.

Steer, drive and trailer tyres

19.5-inch, 22.5-inch and 24.5-inch wheel sizes across the common commercial fitments, matching the tyre to the duty — steer, drive, trailer or mixed-service — rather than whatever is nearest to hand.

Wheel-end inspection

Studs, nuts, clamping plates, thimbles, hub and oil-seal condition, hub cap and inner wheel inspection, and the wheel damage a run-flat or a seized bearing leaves behind. Many 'tyre problems' are really wheel-end faults, and that is how we check them.

Correct torque and re-torque

Wheel nuts torqued to specification and re-checked, because under-torqued wheel nuts cause stud failures and lost wheels, and over-torqued nuts destroy studs and make the next roadside change far harder.

Inflation and pressure checks

Inflation set to the load and axle position, valve stem and extension inspection, cap replacement, and pressure checks across a fleet so under-inflation is caught before it becomes a blowout.

Fleet tyre programmes

Scheduled inspection, rotation, pressure maintenance and replacement planning across a fleet so tyres are managed as a cost item rather than replaced reactively at the roadside.

Common problems we are called for

If any of the following sounds familiar, call dispatch and describe it — it helps us send the right technician and the right parts on the first trip.

  • Blowout at speed or a tyre visibly shredded
  • Slow leak needing constant inflation
  • Cuts, sidewall damage or exposed cord
  • Uneven or accelerated tyre wear
  • A wheel running hot, or oil around the wheel end
  • Loose, missing or rusted wheel nuts
  • Vibration or a thumping road noise
  • Run-flat caused by a minor puncture
  • Trailer tyre losing pressure between trips
  • A tyre blowing repeatedly on the same position

How Allday Fleet Solutions helps

We change the tyre and check the reason it failed. A tyre that blows repeatedly on the same position is usually telling you about a wheel-end, alignment or overload problem, and finding that early is significantly cheaper than replacing tyres over and over.

For fleets, tyre cost is one of the largest controllable line items in the maintenance budget. Pressure maintenance, correct mating of duals and scheduled inspection make a real difference, and we will set that up as part of a fleet programme if you want it.

Because our technicians work on the whole vehicle, a tyre call-out often turns into a wheel-end, brake or suspension repair in the same visit — with the wheel already off, that is the economical moment to deal with it.

Where this applies

We handle commercial tire replacement across the commercial vehicle types below and more. If your unit is not listed, call anyway — the list is not exhaustive.

  • Bus and shuttle fleets
  • Trailer pools and chassis
  • Construction equipment
  • Farm and ag equipment

What you get

  • No hook — the tyre is changed where the truck stopped
  • Wheel-end, hub and stud condition checked while the wheel is off
  • Wheel nuts torqued to specification
  • Correct tyre matched to steer, drive or trailer duty
  • Fleet pressure and rotation programmes available
  • Root cause of repeat failures investigated, not ignored

Questions

Commercial Tire Replacement — frequently asked

Can you change a truck tyre on the side of the highway?

Yes. Roadside tyre service is one of our most common call-outs. The technician changes the tyre and checks the wheel end, then torques the wheel nuts to specification before the truck moves. Call dispatch with your exact location and the tyre position.

Do you re-torque wheel nuts after fitting?

Wheel nuts are torqued to specification before the truck leaves, and re-torque is the correct follow-up after a wheel has been refitted. Under-torqued nuts cause stud failure and lost wheels, so this is not an item we rush.

How do I know if I need a wheel-end repair rather than a tyre?

Signs include oil around the wheel, a hub that is hot to the touch, uneven or rapid wear on one position, and repeated tyre failures in the same place. Our technicians inspect the wheel end while the wheel is off and will tell you what they find.

Do you supply tyres or do I use mine?

We can source tyres through our supply chain and will match the tyre to the duty and axle position — or fit a tyre you supply. Tell dispatch what you need when you call.

Can you manage tyres across our whole fleet?

Yes. A fleet tyre programme covers scheduled pressure checks, rotation, wear assessment and replacement planning so tyre spend is managed rather than reacted to. Ask about it when you open a fleet account.
